Volunteer at Ventana Vista
There are several ways for you to get involved at Ventana Vista.
Classroom
Many volunteers share their time, skills, and interests with the students at school. Formal training is not needed to volunteer; however all volunteers should receive and read the information contained in the Ventana Vista Volunteer Handbook. Volunteers who are not parents of Ventana Vista students must complete an application at the district office and be approved by the CFSD Governing Board before beginning to work at the school. Whether it is an hour, a week, or a month, volunteers enhance the climate of our school and assist students and teachers. Classroom teachers determine the volunteer assistance needed in an individual classroom. This will be communicated at the beginning of the school year. Opportunities to volunteer in areas other than the classroom (e.g. library, lunch program) also exist. Please contact the school office for more information. When volunteering in the school, please sign in at the office and pick up your visitor badge.
Family Faculty Organization (FFO)
The Ventana Vista Elementary School F.F.O. supports dynamic home-school collaboration, cooperation and commitment. It serves a parent community that holds high expectations for students and their schools. F.F.O. members are actively involved in our school as volunteers and in school-wide projects. They are a most welcome and appreciated part of our school community. Families are encouraged to attend the general F.F.O. meetings. Notification of meetings will be posted in the Ventana Vistas newsletter. Meetings address a variety of topics, such as curriculum and school projects. Some of the projects undertaken by the F.F.O. include: school pictures, Trunk or Treat, school dance, STEM- A-Thon, Evening of the Arts, the Book Fair, Ventana Vista yearbook and staff appreciation days. Proceeds from various projects are used to meet additional student needs. Every Ventana Vista parent and faculty member is a member in the Ventana Vista Elementary School Family Faculty Organization.
Site Council
The Ventana Vista Site Council is composed of staff members, parents, and community members. It supports and monitors the efforts of site improvement plans to ensure a high quality education for our children and a positive, supportive, and educational environment for students, staff, parents, and community. Site plan implementation work and accomplishments are communicated to parents throughout the school year. Interested persons may nominate themselves and should be available to attend meetings. Membership application forms are distributed to families in the fall. Meetings are held four times a year after school. The focus of this year's Site Council work will be on our Family Teacher Teams and community engagement.
