Birthdays & Celebrations

Birthdays are special times for children. Please check with the classroom teacher regarding recognition of birthdays during the school day. Instructional time is a priority for our school, but we will make sure to recognize student birthdays in a special way. It is not permissible to bring in edible treats for birthday celebrations. Nor are deliveries of balloons or other special items/events that may disrupt the operation of the school day, permissible. With the classroom teacher’s permission, non-edible treats (pencils, stickers, etc.) or a gift for the classroom (a special book) may be brought to school.

For parties held outside of school, please do not distribute invitations at school, unless the entire class is invited.

All Ventana Vista classrooms have three class parties each year--one winter party in December, one friendship celebration in February, and one end of year party in May. These celebrations will be planned by the teacher with support from family volunteers. Food is to have a minimal presence at these parties and only one unhealthy treat is permitted. Families will be notified of the food that will be provided two weeks ahead of time to ensure that no foods are being served that impact a child with allergies.

Classrooms will have learning celebrations, as well. These celebrations will be focused on student academic progress and will not involve food.
