Attendance-Late Arrival-Dismissal
THE LAW: School attendance laws of the state of Arizona require that children must attend school regularly. By state law, regular school attendance is the joint responsibility of the parents and the school. School authorities must enforce the law as cited in District Policy JH and A.R.S. 15-803. Parents, at the same time, have the responsibility to see that regular school attendance is maintained. Students must be in attendance at least 90% of all class sessions or missing no more than 18 days or the student may be retained. You can help by making school a top priority. By building the habit of daily attendance, you will help your child see that school is important.

ABSENCES: Please call the attendance line (209-8090) by 8:00 a.m. each day if your child will not be able to attend school or will be late. Please give the following information: name of student, grade, name of teacher, length of and reason for absence. Your call is important to help us protect the safety of your child and to ensure accurate attendance records. If a student is absent and we do not receive a call from home, we will call your home/work or emergency contact numbers to verify the absence as part of our safe arrival policy.

LATE ARRIVALS: Students are marked tardy if they are not in their classroom seat when the 8:00am bell rings. The front gate closes at 7:55am to ensure students have enough time to get to class before the 8:00am bell. When students arrive late or are returning from an appointment before the end of the day, parents must sign the student in at the office. Please do not drop off your child in front of the school.
SIGNING OUT EARLY: Students must be signed out, before they are called out of the classroom. We will NOT call for them before you arrive at school so please plan accordingly. We will not sign out students within 1/2 hour of the end of the school day. If you need to leave early be sure to be here before 2:30pm on M, W, TH, F and before 1;00 pm on Tuesdays.

Parents will be routinely notified in writing if their child has been absent or tardy an excessive number of days for the time he/she has been enrolled in school. To support continuity of learning, parents are strongly encouraged to schedule vacations that coincide with established school holidays.
CHANGES TO DISMISSAL PLANS: If there is to be a change in transportation at dismissal time, please notify the office ahead of time. Please notify the office before 2:30pm so that we can reasonably communicate changes to teachers and students. Last minute changes can cause confusion, which then can be frustrating for families. For the safety of our students, we will not accept changes to after school plans after 2:30pm.
If we do not receive a note or a phone call from a parent/guardian, your child will be dismissed according to his/her usual dismissal plan.
